Welcome to our luxury off-grid cabin, nestled within 70 acres of pasture, bog and native woodlands.

Our Tigín - meaning 'tiny house' in Irish - was handcrafted in the west of Ireland in 2023, consciously designed and built using natural materials. Expansive windows overlook the Wicklow countryside, offering a front row seat to the passage of deer, pheasants, rabbits and other wildlife.

Note - there is a 300m hike from the parking to the secluded cabin, wellies/hiking boots recommended.

The space

The Tigín is located in the corner of a large south-facing field bustling with wildlife in the heart of Wicklow.

The tiny house comprises an open-plan space with a mezzanine sleeping level, complete with kingsize bed and accessible by ladder stairs.

Downstairs, the living area has a daybed below the huge window, with a foldaway dining table and chairs. The fully equipped kitchen has a fridge with ice box, gas stove and large sink. The space has been equipped with ceramics and materials crafted and woven by Irish makers, wherever possible.

There is a hot shower and Scandinavian style dry toilet and shelves and a rail to store your belongings.

Outside there is a pebbled area with a fire pit with a cooking grill, benches and a picnic table. A short walk away there is a rustic wood-fired sauna that you are welcome to use.

The cabin has a gas boiler for the heating and hot water. 2.4kw solar panels provide plenty of power for your stay.

The property offers easy access to all that Wicklow has to offer, for example:

Glendalough (hiking in mountains and around lakes) - 15 min drive
Beyond the Trees woodland walks (a 1.4km path built high in the trees with panoramic views, playgrounds, Avondale house) - 10 min
Roundwood Stores (artisan grocers, bakery and coffeeshop, great place to pick up supplies for your stay at the Tigín) and The Coach House (pub with food, taken over by the owners of Roundwood Stores) - 22 min
Avoca Handweavers and Avoca village (guided tours of the mill, store to buy woven goods and others, cafe) - 15 min
Brittas Bay beach (one of the most popular beaches in Wicklow, with 3.2km of powdery sand) - 25 min
Kilmacurragh Botanic Gardens - 18 min

Guest access

The Tigín and surrounds are private to you. You are also welcome to explore the grounds and we can suggest some walks. The farm cottage and buildings are private.

Other things to note

It is not possible to drive directly to the cabin, there is a 300m hike through a meadow to reach it (wellies or hiking boots are required in wet weather, and a rucksack for your belongings).

The cabin is off-grid, the electric battery is solar powered and is sufficient for normal use during your stay.

The toilet in the Tigín is a dry (non flushing) toilet, with an always-on electric extracting fan.

There is running water, which comes from a well on the property and is filtered so safe to drink.

There is wildlife on the property, including deer, pheasants and rabbits.
